Truffles are carefully wrapped in unbleached paper towel which allows them to breath and prevents condensation.
Due to their perishable nature, fresh black summer truffles are packed with ice-packs and shipped in special insulated Styrofoam containers .
All fresh truffles are shipped Overnight Monday-Thursday.
Where can you find black summer truffles?
We harvest the Black Truffles from May through August, depending on the weather and season from the the oak and hazelnut forests in Eastern Europe Italy, France and parts of Spain
What does it look like?
Black Summer Truffle is easily recognizable by its rough, alligator skin-like surface, covered with small diamond-shaped projections .
Featuring a brown-black exterior color with hazel and white marbling inside it does not change color when exposed to air.
What does it taste like?
Also known as “Scorzone” , Tuber Aestivum adds a rich woodsy aroma with flavors of garlic, wild mushroom and earthy nutty undertones , yet less overpowering and less pungent compared to other truffle types .
How to store:
Truffles are seasonable products and highly perishable. With a average shelf life of 1-2 weeks we recommend to store them at 37.5 °F (3 °C ), wrapped in paper towel in a airtight container.
It’s best to consume the fresh truffles as soon as they are received in order to fully benefit from their flavor.
